PURPOSE:To give proper negative charge to a toner and to prevent it from deterioration for a long period by attaching a chelate compd. of a specified aminocarboxylic acid to the surface of a charge donor, such as carrier particles or the like. CONSTITUTION:The chelate compd. of the aminocarboxylic acid to be used is represented by the formula shown on the right in which R1, R2, R4, R5 are each H, halogen, nitro, amino, 1-16C alkyl, or sulfamoyl, R1 and R2, R4 and R5 may form a ring; R3, R6 are each H, 1-9C alkyl, benzyl, or phenyl; and M is a divalent metal atom, such as Ni, Co, Zn, or Cu. This compd. is dissolved and dispersed and mixed with fine iron carrier particles to attach it on their surfaces and it may be added to the surfaces of a cylindrical sleeve or a doctor blade, thus permitting the obtained toner to be enhanced in charge controllability and durability by the presence of said compd. |
