A sub-eutectic to near-eutectic aluminium-silicon casting alloy contains, as grain-refining agent, a master alloy with less than 2% by weight and at least 1% by weight of titanium and less than 2% by weight and at least 1% by weight of boron, the remainder being aluminium. The aluminium-silicon casting alloy can be used, for example, for the manufacture of wheels or wheel rims for passenger cars, produced by gravity die-casting.
