An active optical coupler (Ap) for use in an optical data link communication system includes a multi channel coupler (10) having a plurality of input channels fibers (11) for receiving an original optical signal (PH), an optical branch (13) separating the original optical signal (PH) to a predetermined number of separated optical signals (PHa to PHh), and a plurality of output channel fibers (12) for distributing the separated optical signals (PHa to PHn). An amplification circuit (20) is connected to one of the output channel fibers (12e) which distributes the separated optical signal having a lowest power (6.4) for amplifying this separated optical signals (PHe) to produce an amplified optical signal (PHm). This amplified optical signal (PHm) is supplied to another input channel (11h) than the one to which the original optical signal is input, and is distributed to the output channels (12) again. <IMAGE> |
