<p>In order to determine organic substances in solutions by means of attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy (ATRIR), the sample to be examined being led through a flow cell in which an analytical optical conductor is provided, whose analysis light penetrates into the sample, in so doing is attenuated by the substance to be determined, and the measure of the attenuation is measured in a detector, use is made of an analytical optical conductor which is coated at at least one point with a catalyst which catalyses a chemical reaction with the substance which is present in the sample and is to be determined. At the points on the analytical optical conductor which are coated with the catalyst, a reaction product is formed and the coated points are passed through by analysis light which, in so doing, is attenuated to the extent of the formation of the reaction product, and the attenuation is measured in a known way. <IMAGE></p> |
