<p>PURPOSE:To shorten operating time and to improve the reliability by inserting an insulator block into the joint of a power cable and placing cable conductors to be jointed on the outer circumference thereof then thermally fusing an crosslinking thereby integrating with a cable insulator. CONSTITUTION:In a joint insulator 7, an inner shield 8 and an outer shield layer 10 are previously integrated with an insulator 9. The inner diameter thereof is set to be identical or slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the insulator for cables 5, 5' to be jointed, and the insulator 7 is enlarged in order to obtain an inner diameter sufficient for application onto the cable insulator when cable joint work is carried out after crosslinking reaction. Furthermore, the inner face section of the insulator block 7 is impregnated with chemical crosslinking agent so that the inner face of the insulator 9 in the insulator block adheres firmly.</p> |
