PURPOSE:To execute printing efficiently by forming a picture information inputted to a multi-stylus head sequentially on a dielectric belt as electrostatic latent images and developing and outputting an electrostatic latent images at every formation of an electrostatic latent image corresponding to the prescribed volume of picture information. CONSTITUTION:Corresponding electrodes of the multi-stylus head 2 are driven by picture information in each input line, surface of the dielectric belt 1 passing over the head 2 is electrically charged with the prescribed capacity of charge and an electrostatic latent image corresponding to the picture information of each line is formed on the belt 1. Simultaneously, an acknowledge signal is returned to a host computer. During one rotation of the belt 1, an electrostatic latent image 10 corresponding to the picture information of one page is formed on a part from the lead edge 8 of the belt to its tail edge 9. Then, the seam position of the belt 1 is detected by an optical sensor, and from the detecting timing, a contactless developing unit 4 is turned to a development enabled status. The latent image 10 on the belt 1 passing through the unit 4 is transferred to paper 12 through an toner image 11 in accordance with the application of a developing bias. |
