PURPOSE:To detect the abnormality of a discharge recovery treatment time by providing ink pressure detecting means and abnormality detecting means for detecting the pressure abnormality. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 11 and a cap 19 are connected at a home position of a carriage for discharge recovery operation and a piston 18a is lowered, then the pressure in an upper side chamber being changed negative and the liquid is sucked from an orifice of a recording head when a push button 18 is depressed. The air in a second liquid vessel 13 is sucked through a second communication passage 20 before this operation, and the liquid is supplied from a first liquid vessel 14 to the liquid vessel 13. A pressure sensor 21 is provided in a communication passage 22 between the cap 19 and a recovery pump 16, and the abnormality of a discharge recovery operation time is detected by an abnormality detection section 100 based on a pressure signal detected by the pressure sensor. The effect is reported when the abnormality occurrence is detected. |
