A description is given of a spring assembling tool which facilitates the insertion of helical compression springs in the preloaded condition into the particular spring bearing. The tool is particularly suitable for inserting springs in electric switches, in particular in push-button switches, but it can be used wherever a relatively large number of helical compression springs need to be inserted, for example in precision mechanics. The spring contact tool has a feed channel (42) to which the separate helical compression springs are fed pneumatically via a hose. The spring passes into a spring chamber (40) from which it is pushed by means of a thrust pillar (34) into a transverse guide channel (48) and, in the process, is compressed. A plunger (46) runs along the guide channel and displaces the compressed helical compression spring transversely to its longitudinal axis between two leaf-spring-like guides (50) which protrude in the manner of a fork from the housing and by means of which the spring is ejected into the corresponding spring bearing.
