PURPOSE:To perform smooth lens driving by driving a lens while equalizing the image plane moving speed of a moving subject to the moving speed of a lens, and to switch the lens driving to position control so that focusing is obtained at the time of exposure when releasing operation is performed thereafter. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a speed control circuit 104 which performs speed control so that when the movement of the subject is detected, the image plane moving speed of the photographic lens becomes as fast as the image plane speed of the subject and a position control circuit 105 which controls the position of the photographic lens according to the image plane speed of the subject and a defocusing quantity so that the lens is put in focus after a time lag; and the photographic lens is driven by the speed control circuit 104 before the shutter is released and by the position control circuit 105 after the shutter is released. |
