PURPOSE:To avoid the unease of a caller by calling the telephone system when a hand-free device is not available and an automobile is not driven and calling a message transmission section when the automobile is driven to send a message of unable reply to the caller. CONSTITUTION:A state signal representing whether or not a hand-free set HF 5 is available is inputted to a discrimination section 6. Furthermore, the discrimination section 6 discriminates whether or not the automobile is driven based on signals from a car speed sensor 1, a parking brake detection switch 2, a foot brake detection switch 3 and a shift lever detection switch 4. When the automobile is not driven while the HF5 is not available, a control section 7 controls a recording reproduction control section 9 and a message representing 'reply by driver is not available' is sent, the control section 9 is controlled and a message content of a caller is written in a write area of a memory 10 and the automatic message recording mode processing is executed.
