PURPOSE: To attain recording in a longitudinal direction by giving a narrow gap between two magnetic balls at a contact pad surface. CONSTITUTION: A row 52A is cut off from a wafer substrate by sewing cut and fixed to a transfer tool with adhesive. The tip surface of the row 52A is lapped flatly to form a magnetic gap layer 92. The tip of the horizontal part 72 of a second pole part is exposed and a vertical part 94 is stuck to it. The second pole part 96 includes the horizontal part 72 and the vertical part 94. Then a converter section includes the second pole part 96 with the layers of the magnetic gap 92 and a first pole part 62, and a magnetic member. After completing the vertical part, a protecting layer 98 is stuck. Then the row 52A is completed to be divided into composite assemblies for using at a disk 12.
