PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound exhibiting specific infrared absorption spectrum and melting point and having action to suppress type IV allergy (delayed type hypersensitivity), antibacterial action, etc., by culturing a microbial strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces in a medium. CONSTITUTION:The objective new compound exhibiting an infrared absorption spectrum having absorption peaks at 3325, 2925, 2160, 1720, 1638, 1455 and 1105 (cm<-1>) and a melting point of 214-217 deg.C (decomposition) is produced by culturing a microbial strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces and capable of producing a compound having action to suppress type IV allergy (delayed type hypersensitivity), antibacterial action, etc., [e.g. Streptomyces sp.A15O2 (FERM P-12448)] in a medium under aeration and agitation at 30 deg.C for 3 days, adding a sufficient amount of diatomaceous earth to the culture liquid, filtering the liquid under reduced pressure, immersing the filter cake in 80% acetone solution at 4 deg.C for a night to extract the microbial cells included in the diatomaceous earth, removing acetone from the extracted liquid under reduced pressure, adding ethyl acetate and purifying by silica gel column chromatography. |
