PURPOSE:To provide the method and device for correcting spelling error so as to easily and exactly correct spellings. CONSTITUTION:A spelling correction dictionary 4 stores the spelling information of words. A part of speech/meaning dictionary 6 stores the part of speech and meaning information of words. A spelling error detecting means 2 detects errors in the spellings of words inputted by an input means 1 while referring to the spelling correction dictionary 3. A candidate word generating means 3 generates the candidate of the correct spelling corresponding to the spelling error word detected by the spelling error detecting means 2 while referring to the spelling correction dictionary 4. A part of speech/meaning information generating means 5 generates the part of speech and meaning information of the candidate word generated by the candidate word generating means 3 while referring to the part of speech/meaning dictionary 6. A display means 7 displays the candidate word generated by the candidate word generating means 3 and the part of speech and meaning information generated by the part of speech and meaning information generating means 5. A selecting means 8 is provided for an operator to select any one of candidate words displayed on the display means 7. |
