PURPOSE:To prevent bulges of ink, etc., at both ends of a thermal transfer ink medium, by providing ink absorbing parts on the thermal transfer ink medium, excepting an ink area where a layer of ink is formed by the application of ink. CONSTITUTION:Parts having the same widths as that of a subroller 12 and smooth surfaces are provided on a subink member 13 excepting the part corresponding to a maximum printing area, that is, at both ends of the subink member 13. Therefore, a hot-melt ink 16 applied over the ink area 18 of a thermal transfer ink medium 1 is slightly spread out of the ink area 18 on the subink member 13 and sticks to the ink absorbing parts 2 of the both end parts; further, the oblique movement of the thermal transfer ink medium 1 also results in the spread of the ink 16 on the absorbing parts 2. However, since the ink 16, on the ink absorbing parts 2, which has melted is absorbed into a porous layer, bulges of the ink on the surface of the ink absorbing parts 2 and peneraration of the ink into the rear of the thermal transfer ink medium 1 can be prevented. |
