PURPOSE:To perform thermal transfer printing on a rough substrate such as bond paper assuredly and maintain rough appearance and touch of the substrate itself in area where images are not printed. CONSTITUTION:A rough face 14 is coated with an image emphasizing precoat 30, a complete bridge is formed across a valley between adjacent peaks having rough faces, and the cavity of the valley is substantially removed. The colorant receive face of the coated image emphasizing precoat is coated with a colorant.
