PURPOSE:To obtain the optical phase modulator and the optical phase modulation method without having a temperature characteristic relatively, capable of reducing attenuation of optical power and improving the stability and reliability. CONSTITUTION:The modulator is provided with a stimulation light source 1, plural semiconductor lasers 3-1-3-4 stimulated through the incidence of a stimulation light Pum by the stimulation light source 1, plural optical paths 4-1-4-4 whose length differs from each other respectively, providing an independent phase to lights S1-S4 by the semiconductor lasers 3-1-3-4 and through which the resulting lights are sent, and an optical synthesizer 5 synthesizing plural lights SPL1-SPL4 delayed with different delays and sending the result to one and same optical path 6 to cancel relative temperature characteristics. |
