PURPOSE:To quickly expand an air bag in the up-and-down and right-and-left directions of riders. CONSTITUTION:An inflater 46 and a folded air bag 50 are fitted to a retainer 44, and these are covered by a module cover 48. The air bag 50 is that which is first folded in a first direction, and then is folded in a second direction. The front panel of the air bag 50 and the rear panel thereof are connected by seams 56, 58. When the inflater 46 is operated, the air bag 50 is expanded in the second direction. Thereafter, the air bag 50 is expanded in the first direction, and also the threads of the seams 56, 58 break, and the air bag 50 is also expanded in the forward direction. Thus, the air bag 50 can be quickly expanded in the up-and-down and right-and-left directions of riders. |
