Date Feb. 22, 1990.The method for producing a color filter of the present invention comprises the following steps: an inorganic active layer is formed on a transparent substrate, a first color is dyed on said inorganic active layer, a resist is formed on portions of the inorganic active layer other than portions where a second color is dyed, a decoloring treatment is conducted, the second color is dyed on the exposed inorganic active layer, the resist is removed, a resist is formed on portions of the inorganic active layer other than portions where a third color is dyed, a decoloring treatment is conducted, the third color is dyed on the exposed inorganic active layer, and then the resist is removed.
