The induction motor control apparatus and method is includes a stator q-axis current instruction generator for receiving the output of a first comparator; a second comparator for receiving the output of the current instruction generator; a variable structure controller for receiving the outputs of the first and second comparators; and 2-phase-to-3-phase converter for receiving the outputs of the variable structure controller and a magnetic flux maintainer, thereby compensating for an influence of disturbance which is smaller than the output of the induction motor.
