<p>PURPOSE:To correctly scan a track with a head, by recording reference signals together with recording data in a manner to form an inclined track and tracking the signals at the reproducing time so that the reference signals hold a predetermined relationship. CONSTITUTION:Reference signals synchronized with the rotation of rotary magnetic heads 20a, 20b, 49, 54, 59, 64 are generated at generating parts 66, 67, and recorded together with recording data to a magnetic recording medium 11 by recording means 47, 57, 48, 58, 49, 59 in a manner to form a first and a second inclined tracks of different azimuth angles. At the reproducing time, first and second reference signals of the first and second inclined tracks reproduced by reproducing means 20a, 20b, 21, 25, 22, 26 are compared and tracked to hold a predetermined relationship by tracking means 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 38, 39, 40, 41.</p> |
