PURPOSE:To maintain an engine satisfactory by starting the engine when traveling after the engine is stopped for a predetermined time. CONSTITUTION:A hybrid type electric motor vehicle travels by rotary energy of a motor 5 and charges a battery 3 by a generator 2 coupled to an engine 1, and comprises a timer 9 for measuring a stopping time of the engine 1, and means 8 for starting the engine at the next traveling time when the measured time of the timer 9 exceeds a predetermined time.
