PURPOSE:To prevent oxidation after it is pressurized and compressed, handle a hydrogen storage alloy electrode in the air, and realize high performance by covering a surface of a hydrogen storage alloy electrode body. CONSTITUTION:A surface of a hydrogen storage alloy electrode body is covered with a ductile covering material. In this case, hydrogen storage alloy powder is mixed with 1wt.% hydroxyl methyl cellulose aqueous solution, and is transformed into slurry, and after it is filled in a foaming nickel as an electrode base body, it is dried at 60 deg.C, and the hydrogen storage alloy electrode body is formed. Thereby, since a new surface created when it is pressurized and compressed does not come into contact directly with air, the oxidation of the new surface is prevented. Even if activation treatment as a battery is not applied, a high-performance hydrogen storage allay electrode can be formed. |
