PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing, by a simple means, a sintered electrode having a predetermined ratio of minute pores to coarse pores. CONSTITUTION: For manufacturing a sintered electrode for use in a battery having minute pores and coarse pores, reduced iron powder particles having particle sizes of 500μm at the maximum which are obtained from ferric oxide powder having particle sizes up to 10μm and have minute pores, are compression-molded so as to form an electrode body and sintered at a sintering temperature up to 750 deg.C in a reducing atmosphere. With this, iron powder particles, which are obtained from iron powder coagulation bodies that are formed when iron oxide powder is reduced at 600 to 800 deg.C, after the iron powder coagulation bodies are pulverized as the case may be, are mixed, before compression molding, in a pore forming agent which volatilizes at the time of sintering, and an amount and a particle size of the pore forming agent are selected in relation to desired pore number and pore size of the sintered electrode. |
