The upper end of the crusher spindle 7 of a gyratory crusher has secured thereto a hemispherical bearing member 16 which is carried on a correspondingly-shaped bearing surface 17 of a plunger. 8 which is pressed against an adjustable stop-member 21 by means of fluid under pressure supplied to a cylinder 19 through a conduit 20 controlled by a valve, the arrangement being such that when the crushing force exceeds a certain value, fluid is pressed from the cylinder 19 through the conduit 20 so that the spindle and the crushing head 8 secured thereto move downwardly to relieve the crushing force. The stop-member 21 may be adjustable hydraulically. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the plunger is pressed against the stopmember by adjustable spring means. |
