<p>PURPOSE:To make a device record with a high density and have a large capacity to write and read data at a high speed, to miniaturize peripheral apparatus to make the whole of the device constitution small-sized and simple, and to considerably reduce the cost. CONSTITUTION:Plural third electrodes 37 are formed on a silicon substrate 39 with a field insulating film between them, and a second electrode 34 is provided on third electrodes 37 orthogonally to these electrodes. A first electrode 32 is provided on the second electrode 34 orthogonally to this electrode. These electrodes are insulated from one another, and a heating body 35 is interposed between crossing parts of the second electrode 34 and third electrodes 37. The first electrode 32 and the second electrode 34 are coated with a liquid crystal layer 31 as a recording medium. A voltage is applied to the second electrode 34 and third electrodes 37, and the heating body 35 is allowed to generate heat to raise the temperature of the liquid crystal layer, thus writing information. An AC voltage is applied to the first electrode 32 and the second electrode 34 to read out information.</p> |
