PURPOSE:To suppress the deterioration and the fluctuation of a distortion rate on account of optical parts based on the distribution of a polarized wave in an optical signal by making the transmissivity of the optical parts and the polarized wave dependency of an insertion loss satisfy a prescribed relation. CONSTITUTION:An optical communication device has an optical fiber 120 and the optical parts 110 between a transmitter Tx and a receiver Rx. The transmitter Tx modulates the intensity of the laser light of a prescribed center frequency lambda1 by an input signal Sin and outputs it as an optical signal. In this case, the modulation degree per channel is (m), and chirping quantity at the time of 100% modulation is lambdas. The fiber 120 is connected to the parts 110 by an optical connector 160, and the optical signal is given from the transmitter Tx to the parts 110. The receiver Rx converts the optical signal from the parts 110 into an electric signal so as to output it. At that time, the parts 110 have the polarized wave dependency A of the insertion loss and transmissivity To, which satisfy a following expression with respect to the required distortion rate C: 20log10{(2pic/lambda1<2>).n.(A/To).tau.m.lambdas}<=C, where tau is polarized wave distortion, (n) is the number of beats and (c) is light velocity. |
