The container for transport of heated or chilled prods. is lined with a layer of thermally insulating material comprising a rigid core (1) of, e.g. porous plastic foam contg. numerous cavities, and an outer skin (2) of plastics (e.g. polypropylene) film which is welded together (3) around the edges for an airtight seal. Evacuation of the core minimises heat conduction and convection and draws the skin tightly around it. Emission or absorption of radiation is reduced by an overall metallisation (4) with a mirror finish. ADVANTAGE - The outflow or influx of heat is reduced substantially without increase in thickness or wt. of the insulation.
