To develop a woven material with a fur-like character, strips (6) of fur are wound in spirals round several warps (2) and/or wefts (3) of a netting structure. The material (7) is treated by water through spraying and/or immersion. The base of the material is fixed for a time for part of a given pattern, so that the fur strips (6) can dry and harden. Pref., the fur strips (6) are wound to keep the hairy side to the outside of the netting structure, to form a material section (7). The netting is formed by weaving the warps (2) with the wefts (3), with their ends caught at a selvage, to form the woven base for the fabric section. The fur strips (6) are wound round the warps (2) and/or wefts (3) with opposing orientation. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is for the prodn. of a woven material with a fur-like character, for garments such as jackets, coats, shoulder coverings and the like. The technique gives a combination of woven base with fur strips. The shape of the hairy fabric is simply corrected to maintain a given outline.
