A hose assembly (60) comprises a reinforced hose, an end of which surrounds at least part of an end fitting (61), having a tail portion (64) which lies inwards of the hose, the outer surface of the end fitting being provided with at least a first retention bead (62) spaced axially from said tail end. A main hose reinforcement carcass comprising a plurality of layers (74a, 74b) extends axially over said retention bead (62) and an inner lining layer (71) is positioned inwards of the main carcass to provide a smooth bore (72) contiguous with the bore of the end fitting. A rubber interlayer (78) is arranged to separate one or more reinforcement layers (74a) from the other layers (74b) and to extend along the length of the hose to act as a secondary lining layer.
