The present invention relates to an anode casing for Soderberg anodes for use in electrolytic aluminium reduction cells, wherein at least the lower and inner part of the anode casing is made from a ceramic material or refractory castable which is resistant against the atmosphere and the temperatures in the electrolytic aluminium reduction cell.
