<p>A rotor for mechanical air classifier of the kind comprising a hollow cage-like rotor member (28), provided with a plurality of entering openings for air and classified material. By the invention, the openings (30) are generally equidimensionally shaped, or with rather small proportions of the length/width ratio of the openings. One method for making a rotor in accordance with the invention, is characterized by the following steps: 1) providing a plate-shaped blank of metal or steel; 2) furnishing said blank with a desired pattern of openings by punching or drilling; 3) forming said plate-shaped blank by rolling or the like into a rotational body, such as a cylinder or cone; 4) joining the meeting initially oppositely located side edges of the blank and thereby completing the rotor body, providing each end of the rotor with end sections, one of which includes a drive shaft. One second version of the method comprises the following steps: a) providing a plate-shaped blank of metal or steel; b) forming by rolling or otherwise the blank into the form of a rotational body such as a cylinder or cone, and then drilling or punching holes on its surface; c) joining the initially oppositely located side edge of the blank along the meeting line by welding or otherwise, and thereby completing the rotor body; d) providing each end of the rotor body with end members, at least one of which includes a drive shaft for the rotor.</p> |
