The tyre, partic. for commercial vehicles, has a single or multi-layer carcass of aramid cord trapped at the beads by being wrapped round aramid bead cores, where the beads have synthetic fibre-reinforced rubber sections. The belt reinforcement between carcass and tread is also made of synthetic fibre-reinforced rubber. The figure shows the carcass (1) wrapped at the ends round the bead cores (3) of high tensile strength. A core section (4) lies radially outside on each side and a bead reinforcement (5) is located axially outside. The belt (7) is between the carcass (1) and tread (6) and can have one or more layers. The bead reinforcing members (5) minimise any problems of scuffing at the rim flanges. The bead cores (3) are made of aramid fibres wound circumferentially into a compact feature. ADVANTAGE - The construction has max. recycling potential.
