PURPOSE:A bacterium that belongs to Pseudomonas and produces ubiquinone is cultured and the culture mixture is heated in the presence of a coagulant or persimmon astringent to coagulate bacterial cells in high recovery yield and said ubiquinone is extracted from the cells separated. CONSTITUTION:After a mold of bacterium that belongs to Pseudomonas and is capable of producing ubiquinone is cultured to produce ubiquinone in the cells, the culture mixture is adjusted in pH to 3.0-9.0, preferably 7.0-8.5 and then heated. Before the temperature rises from 80 deg.C to boiling point, or on heating or during keeping the hotness after heating, an inorganic coagulant, such as calcium chloride, aluminum sulfate, or organic coagulant, such as acrylamide, or persimmon astringent is added to the medium to coagulate the cells. They are poured on an appropriate mesh and separated from the liquid, then ubiquinone is extracted from the cells with an organic solvent. |
