The unit has a fuel pump (20) with a relief channel (42,46) located close to the end (54) of the suction opening (32), when viewed from the direction of rotation of the delivery element (22,24). The relief channel extends radially relative to the axis of rotation (26) of the delivery element. A borehole (44,48) leads from the radially extreme end of the relief channel. There is a relief channel in each of the chamber end walls (38,40) and they are connected to each other. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in vehicles. Return flow of gas collected through relief channel is not returned to suction side.
