In the yarn delivery system for a textile machine, and esp. a loom, the friction roller (3) upstream of the feedwheel has a turbine drive. Turbine is pref. single-stage compressed air turbine. A turbine wheel (21) within the working chamber (20) of the housing (G) has paddles (22) round its circumference, and is fitted to a turbine shaft (23). The chamber (20) has a connection entry (E) linked to a compressed air supply, and an outlet (A). A pressure store chamber (31) is at the entry side of the chamber (20). Turbine wheel (21) and the friction roller (3) float on both sides of a bearing assembly (24) in the housing (G). Effective working dia. of the friction roller (3) is about 25% of the outer dia. of the turbine wheel (21). USE/ADVANTAGE - The mechanism gives control of the yarn during high speed working, to give a consistent behaviour. The system is simple and compact, and gives a good control with low energy consumption.
