The transverse cutter for webs, especially for a web of corrugated cardboard, has tubular cutting cylinders (4, 5) which are made of a fibre composite material and are rotatably mounted in pairs, one above the other, in a machine frame (2, 3). To the cutting cylinders there are fastened cutter holders (15) for cutters (16) which are arranged in an inclined fashion around the circumference of the cutting cylinders. Opposite the cutter holders there are arranged counter weights (17) on the cutting cylinders. The cutting cylinders intermesh by means of gear wheels (10), which can be used to drive the cutting cylinders. The cutting cylinder (4, 5), the cutter holder (15) and the counter weight (17) are composed of a composite material having a coefficient of thermal expansion which is close to or equal to 0 mm/K. The bearings (7) at both ends of the cutting cylinders are fixed bearings. This means that the optimum cutting quality can be obtained owing to the decreased deflection of the cutting cylinders and power consumption can be lower owing to the reduced mass moment of inertia. <IMAGE> |
