PURPOSE:To provide resin-finished highly water-absorbing nonwoven fabric excellent in touch feel and mechanical properties. CONSTITUTION:The nonwoven fabric containing (A) 10-50wt.% highly water- absorbing fibers and (B) 3-20wt.% resin. Preferably, the fibers A, which is capable of absorbing >=1200wt.% but <3000wt.% of physiological saline, is produced by copolymerization between (1) a monomer bearing carboxyl group, (2) a monomer bearing such hydroxyl group as to be capable of forming ester-cross-linked bonds by reaction with the above carboxyl group and (3) a monomer bearing carboxylic alkali metal salt group, followed by cross-linking by heating. The resin B is e.g. natural or synthetic rubber, acrylic resin, urethane resin, or vinyl acetate-based resin. |
