PURPOSE:To provide the supplying method for the coated optical fiber which securely sends the coated optical fiber to a specific position in a work station without being affected by the natural curvature, gravitational deflection, etc., of the coated optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The coated optical fiber 1 is sent to a fiber gripper 7 first and gripped by the fiber gripper 7. Then the fiber gripper 7 processeds while a feed roll 2 is rotated to send the tip part of the coated optical fiber 1 up to the mounting end part of the work station 4. Then while the feed roll 2 is stopped, the tip part of the coated optical fiber 1 is gripped and pressed on the work station side. In this state, the coated optical fiber 1 is separated from the fiber gripper 7, which is moved back to its original position. Then the tip part is released from being pressed on the work station side. Then the coated optical fiber 1 is gripped by the fiber gripper 7 again, which proceeds to send the coated optical fiber in the work station side. |
