PURPOSE:To obtain a method for efficiently cutting a high-strength fiber such as an aramid fiber or a carbon fiber or composite material thereof in sharp cross section. CONSTITUTION:Water is previously sprayed or impregnated into a high-strength fiber or its composite material which is a material to be cut and the fiber or the composite material containing the water is frozen and then irradiated with laser beam in frozen state to cut the fiber or its composite material.
