CONNECTOR FOR SWITCHING LIGHT TRANSMITTING PATH

PURPOSE:To miniaturize the switching device of an optical fiber connector. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 1a and 1b are housed and fixed in the central part of a 1st ferrule 1 and optical fibers 2a and 2b are housed and fixed in the central part of a 2nd ferrule, 2, then a 1st long hole H1 and a 2nd long hole H2 are formed to pierce the respective ferrules 1 and 2. The respective ferrules 1 and 2 are butted so that the long hole H1 and the long hole H2 are opposed. Positioning pins 6 and 7 are inserted in the holes H1 and H2. The pin 6 is fixed and the pin 7 is movably and loosely inserted. When the pin 7 is moved and inner end faces 81 and 83 and inner end faces 82 and 84 are aligned, the optical fibers la and 2b and the optical fibers 1b and 2a are connected. When the pin 7 is moved in a reverse direction and outer end faces 91 and 93 and outer end faces 92 and 94 are aligned, the optical fibers 1a and 2a are connected and the connection of the optical fibers is switched. Since the optical fibers are aligned just by driving the pin 7, a driving device is simplified and miniaturized.
