PURPOSE:To obtain a detergent composition having suitable viscosity, excelling in handleability and a feeling of use, and having high safety by specifying the pH of a liquid detergent composition comprising a thickener and a fatty-acid- containing N-acyl acid. CONSTITUTION:This detergent composition is prepared by adding a thickener and a fatty acid or its salt to a liquid detergent composition containing an N-acylglutamate and has a pH of 6.0 in the form of an aqueous solution. A particularly desirable example of the thickener is an ester or ether thickener having a polyoxyethylene chain in the molecule. Examples of the fatty acid include coconut oil fatty acid and lauric acid. Examples of the salts used include an alkali metal salt, an alkanolamine salt and a basic amino acid salt. This composition is lowly irritating to the skin or mucous membrane, is highly safe, and can be desirably used as a liquid detergent such as a hair shampoo or a body shampoo. |
