PURPOSE:To prevent a serious accident by quickly sensing an operational abnor mality in knitting needles and stopping a flat knitting machine of the type in which each knitting needle is subjected to the positional control with an actuator synchronously with a yarn feeder. CONSTITUTION:In a flat knitting machine 1 in which each knitting needle 3 is subjected to the positional control with an actuator 4 synchronously with a yarn feeder 2, the positional deviation of the target position of the knitting needle from the actual position is sensed. When the positional deviation exceeds a reference value, an abnormality signal is outputted to stop the flat knitting machine and, as necessary, the knitting needle in which the abnormality occurs or its operating position is simultaneously displayed. |
