PURPOSE:To obtain a destaticizing device by which toner is prevented from adhering to a light source and the specified quantity of destaticizing light is stably and easily obtained by arranging a mesh member in an optical path radiated from the light source to the surface of the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:A pretransfer destaticizing device 20 has a destaticizing lamp 21 as the light source, and the lamp 21 is housed in a case 22 having an aperture part opened to a photosensitive body 10. The mesh member 23 is attached to the aperture part of the case 22 so as to cover up the aperture part. The member 23 is constituted by crossing a conductive wire rod. The destaticizing light radiated from the lamp 21 to the photosensitive body 10 is scattered in the optical path so as to decrease the quantity of light reaching the surface of the photosensitive body 10. A bias power source 24 is connected to the member 23, so that voltage having the same polarity as the electrostatic charging polarity of a toner image is impressed. Therefore, the member 23 repulses the toner splashing from the surface of the photosensitive drum, and the toner is prevented from adhering to the lamp 21. |
