PURPOSE:To provide the method for manufacturing the semiconductor laser module with high optical coupling efficiency by improving the positioning precision of a semiconductor laser and an optical fiber concerning the manufacture of a semiconductor laser module which lets a semiconductor laser and an optical fiber join on the same substrate. CONSTITUTION:A groove 31 for optical fiber mounting is formed in the semiconductor 1 and at the same time, one or two groove markers 41 are formed on the substrate 1 on the prolongation of the center line of the groove 31 for optical fiber mounting; and two markers 13 are formed on the reverse surface of the semiconductor laser 12 across an active layer 15 at equal intervals. The top surface of the substrate 1 is formed into a specular surface and the two markers 13 formed on the reverse surface of the semiconductor layer 12 are reflected by the top surface of the substrate 1 and observed; and the centers of the two markers 13 and the centers of one groove marker 41 or two groove markers 41 are aligned with each other to position the semiconductor layer 12 and optical fiber 16. |
