<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a steam turbine having an improved pressure relief diaphragm having a structure which reduces the likelihood of air leakage into a turbine in operation. CONSTITUTION: A pressure relief diaphragm of a steam turbine comprises, for the purpose of relieving excess pressure within a turbine housing to prevent damage to turbine blades, a safety housing 280 having a mounting flange 291 arranged to mate with a turbine flange 210, a first solid disc 350 between the mounting flange and turbine flange, a second solid disc 340 abutting the first solid disc, and bolts 450 for securing the mounting flange and the first solid disc to the turbine flange. The diaphragm further comprises spring washers 480 associated with the bolts, an annular ring 352 positioned on the first solid disc, bolts 420 for securing the second solid disc and annular ring to the first solid disc, and spring washers 430 associated with the bolts 420.</p> |
