PURPOSE:To provide the metallic mold member having a long life and good gas ventability by constituting the metallic mold of a gas permeable porous sintered body of a cermet system consisting of a specific compsn. CONSTITUTION:At least a part of the metallic mold member for molding is constituted of at least one kind of the components (components A) selected form the carbides and nitrides of group IVa to IVa elements of periodic table; for example, TiC, TiN, etc., and at least one kind of the components (components B) selected from iron family elements; for example, Ni, Co, etc. The content of the components A of this sintered body is preferably 80 to 85wt.% and the content of the components B is preferably 15 to 20wt.%. An important requirement is that the pore area rate of the sintered body is 30 to 50% and the gas permeability is 5 to 20Nl/cm<2>.min. The metallic mold 2 for molding is made of such porous sintered body 3 and is provided with vent holes 4 on the opposite side to constitute vent paths for the molten metal from a pouring port 5. |
