PURPOSE: To provide a positioning assembly for accelerating and decelerating a movable machining element at acceleration/deceleration of a particular value or higher using a motor-driven linear motor. CONSTITUTION: This positioning apparatus includes parallel self-supported columnar parts B jointed to a common platform with accuracy of±0.0005 inch (0.013 mm), rails C extending between the respective columnar parts, a movement means D sliding on the respective rails, a linear motor performing selective driving between the rail C and the movement means D at acceleration/ deceleration of approx. 1 to 2 g (9.8 to 19.6 m/sec<2> ), and a spindle F capable of driving rotation. |
