PURPOSE:To arrange cords at regular intervals and strip ends in a state expanding outside at forming a carcass of a pneumatic tire by providing a stage for separating the cords correctly and a stage for abutting a uniform strip of elastomer material against a separated cord in a nip between a cord positioning roll and one of calender rolls. CONSTITUTION:Individual cords 18 are kept at a desired constituting interval assuredly with groove patterns of rolls 8 and 9, positioned corrected, and respectively embedded in calender processing strips 25, 26 by nips 27a, 27b between the rolls 8, 9 and calender rolls 2a, 3a. Accordingly, a cord structure of equal height 21 is formed in a strip 15, so that correct arrangement is guaranteed by the strip. It produces a continuous strip 28 of elastomer material having the repeat cord pattern 21 to be discharged from a nip 29 between the rolls 2a and 3a. The longitudinal edge of the strip 28 is trimmed so as to coincide with the pattern 21 and the continuous strip 28 is cut laterally by a cutting mechanism 31, so that individual cord reinforcing strips 15 of equal height are formed. |
