PURPOSE:To obtain a 1-carbamoyl-1,2,4-triazole derivative useful as a herbicide capable of withering only weeds without exerting an undesirable influence by its action, remaining only slight residue to environment because of sufficient effects with a small amount. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I {X is O or NR<5> [R<5> is H, alkyl, formula VIII (R<6> is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or haloalkyl; (i) is 0-2; (j) is 0 or 1)]; R<1> and R<2> are each alkyl, halogen or alkoxy; R<3> and R<4> are H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenyl, or ones mutually bonding to form a ring; (n) is 1 or 2} such as 1-(N,N-diethylcarbamoyl)-3-(3,5-dimethylisooxazol-4-ylsulfonyl)-1 H-1,2,4-triazole. This compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with 2-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole to give a compound of formula III, reacting the compound of formula III with a compound of formula IV, treating the prepared compound of formula V with an oxidizing agent to give a compound of formula VI and then reacting the resultant compound with a compound of formula VII. |
