METHOD FOR UTILIZING FILTRATION RESIDUE IN ALCOHOL FERMENTATION SOLUTION

PURPOSE:To prevent an offensive smell of filtration residue containing diatomaceous earth prepared by filtering an alcohol fermentation solution such as beer or SAKE (rice wine) and then to effectively use the filtration residue as a raw material for cement. CONSTITUTION:Quick lime and/or slaked lime is added to a filtration residue containing diatomaceous earth discharged from a brewing process of an alcoholic drink, then the filtration residue is used as a raw material of a silica source for Portland cement. Consequently, since the alkali (Na) content of the filtration residue can be reduced to a low content, the filtration residue is usable as a raw material for cement. Since the filtration residue can be readily made into a solidified substance, the solidified substance has excellent handleability.
